Who are we?
Born out of tragedy, fuelled by hope. It began with two fathers reaching out in their grief after losing their sons to suicide (Ross and Jordan). Now, it is led by Mike McCarthy (Ross’s dad), who people may know from Sky News.
The Baton of Hope held its first tour in 2023 across numerous locations within the UK. Followed the launch of the Workplace Pledge and other initiatives.
In 2024, we launched the Baton of Hope Derby/Derbyshire, ready for the 2025 tour. Our local committee is supported by people bereaved, affected or passionate about suicide prevention. The tour is locally funded through partnership packages and fundraising.
There are many ways you can get involved, from being a baton-bearer to volunteering, being a partner, and more. Check out the About Us section or contact us.
It's here!
We are beyond proud to be able to share and launch our partnership with Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service
This amazing wrap ties in with the Derbyshire Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Chesterfield appliance and is aiming to support people to start a conversation and reach out for support.
We will be stopping at Ascot Drive Fire Station on the 13th September for the Baton Of Hope UK tour 2025. For more information on the Derby and Derbyshire tour visit: batonofhopederbyshire.co.uk
