This training course teaches individuals how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
This course is suitable for individuals whose role may include provision of support to adults who may have emotional distress, be at higher risk of mental health difficulties, or who have experience of mental health problems.
It will cover topics like; Mental Health First Aid, Depression, Anxiety, Supporting someone, Suicide, Psychosis, Self-harm and eating Disorders.
This 2-day course is free for people who’s core role is support Derbyshire residents and works for a statutory or voluntary organisation (Including volunteering) or you have been offered a free place by the Derbyshire Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Public Health Team.
It gives participants a general awareness and understanding of mental health, including addressing stigma, and an overview of resources and services.
The course is suitable for people in public-facing roles that would benefit from general mental health awareness or as an introduction to the topic of mental health.
Suicide awareness and managing mental health conversations training is a half-day course designed to increase the knowledge of staff and volunteers with regard to mental health conversations and suicide prevention.
This course will build participants general awareness and understanding of the topic of suicide and equip participants with skills and confidence to have supportive conversations with individuals who exhibit emotional distress.
Learning takes place across the following topic areas: emotional distress, suicide and suicide prevention, risk factors, warning signs, conversations, signposting.
