National (The Baton of Hope UK)
VISION
We are part of a growing movement aspiring to a zero-suicide society and will simply not tolerate the level of suicides currently recorded within the UK, when most suicides are preventable and suicide is the leading preventable death.
We have a vision of a society where suicide and suicide prevention are openly and widely discussed, where we inspire hope through action, where people are suitably supported, and where everyone plays their part in realising this vision.
OUR MISSION
We will bring about change. In how we approach suicide. In how we talk about it. And how we support those affected by it.
Boost the national conversation to eliminate the stigma around this issue.
Connect and collaborate with people and organisations already working to save lives.
Summarise key suicide prevention steps that institutions, businesses, public agencies, communities, and individuals can take.
Provide training and advice on best practice suicide prevention in the workplace.
Create better signposting for those who need support or want to help a friend, pupil, or co-worker.
Shine a spotlight on actions that do not support – or actively harm – people’s mental health, and showcase good practice.
Positively challenge the UK Government and public institutions to aim higher on suicide prevention – the time for action is now.
Local
Utilising the national guidance and picture to embed at a local level. To run and engage local events, organisations and workplaces and to support those settings in the embedment of suicide prevention and trauma informed practice.
Supporting with the workplace charter and Derby/Derbyshire tour. We will provide legacy and ongoing support, resources, and more to settings across the City and County. Through the legacy, we want to support local charities and groups who are supporting working towards a Zero Suicide society.
