Born out of tragedy, fuelled by hope. It began with two fathers reaching out in their grief after losing their sons to suicide (Ross and Jordan). Now, it is led by Mike McCarthy (Ross’s dad), who people may know from Sky News.

The Baton of Hope held its first tour in 2023 across numerous locations within the UK. Followed the launch of the Workplace Pledge and other initiatives.

In 2024, we launched the Baton of Hope Derby/Derbyshire, ready for the 2025 tour. Our local committee is supported by people bereaved, affected or passionate about suicide prevention. The tour is locally funded through partnership packages and fundraising.

There are many ways you can get involved, from being a baton-bearer to volunteering, being a partner, and more. Check out the about us section or contact us.

Who are we?

We are excited to launch our latest collaboration for the Derby and Derbyshire offical artwork.

Created by Elisha Cunningham at Crafty Pig Studio this design will be on postcards, merch and also some wider community projects we are working on. Stay tunes for more updates. <3
